1Why these guidelines exist#
deesput is built around topics: you choose what you want to see, and you share with people who are interested in the same things. That only works if people feel safe to take part. These Community Guidelines set out the behavior we expect from everyone who uses deesput, and the behavior we do not allow.
These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. By using deesput you agree to follow them. They apply to everything you create or do in the app, including:
- posts, MicroVideos, comments, reactions and shares;
- private chats, and the files, posts and profiles you send in them;
- your username, display name, profile picture, banner, status and mood;
- topics you own, including their names and how you moderate them;
- the links you share, wherever you share them;
- business identities, events, ads and boosts.
They do not list every possible situation. Where something is not covered, we will act in the spirit of these Guidelines and of the law. Following these Guidelines does not make content legal where the law says otherwise: you are always responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you.
2Respect people#
deesput is for conversation between people with different backgrounds, beliefs and opinions. Strong opinions are welcome. Personal attacks are not.
- Criticize ideas, content and decisions, not the person behind them.
- Assume good faith, and remember there is a real person on the other side of the screen.
- Respect other people’s choices to block you, ignore you or leave a conversation.
- Respect the purpose of a topic. Post content that fits the topics you attach to it.
3Harassment and bullying#
We do not allow content or behavior meant to intimidate, degrade, shame or silence someone. This includes:
- repeated unwanted contact, messages, mentions, comments or friend requests, especially after someone has asked you to stop or has blocked you;
- insults, name-calling, mocking or degrading someone, including for their appearance, background or personal circumstances;
- encouraging others to target someone (pile-ons), or organizing harassment in chats or topics;
- sexual harassment, including unwanted sexual comments, advances or images;
- wishing or celebrating that someone is harmed, or making fun of a person’s death, illness or tragedy;
- creating accounts, business identities or topics to mock or target a specific person.
Blocking someone and then contacting them through another account, another business identity or another person is also harassment.
4Hate speech#
We do not allow content that attacks, dehumanizes or calls for exclusion of people because of a protected characteristic, such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or serious illness. This includes:
- slurs and hateful stereotypes;
- comparing people to animals, diseases, filth or criminals because of who they are;
- claims that a group is inferior, or calls for segregation, exclusion or violence against it;
- denying or glorifying genocide or other well-documented atrocities;
- hateful symbols, and content promoting hate groups.
Discussing these subjects to educate, report news, raise awareness or condemn hate is allowed, as long as the purpose is clear.
5Violence, threats and dangerous organizations#
We do not allow:
- threats of violence against anyone, including threats presented as jokes;
- content that encourages, praises or celebrates violence or people who commit it;
- instructions or encouragement to commit violent acts, or to make or use weapons to harm people;
- content that supports, promotes or recruits for terrorist, violent extremist or organized criminal groups;
- graphic violence or gore shared to shock, glorify or degrade.
If you see a threat to someone’s life or safety, contact the emergency services immediately (112 anywhere in the EU) and then report it to us.
6Sexual content and nudity#
deesput is not a place for sexual content. We do not allow:
- pornography or sexually explicit images, videos or text;
- nudity, except in clearly non-sexual contexts such as art, education, health or breastfeeding;
- offering or requesting sexual services, or sexual content in exchange for anything;
- sexually suggestive content involving anyone who is, or appears to be, under 18;
- sharing intimate images or videos of someone without their consent, or threatening to do so. This is taken extremely seriously and will be reported to the authorities.
7Child safety#
We have zero tolerance for any content or behavior that sexualizes, exploits or endangers children. This includes images, videos, drawings, text or links, whether real or computer-generated, and any attempt to contact a child for sexual purposes (grooming).
Any account involved in this will be terminated immediately and permanently, without warning. We will preserve the evidence and report it to law enforcement and the competent authorities.
deesput is only for people aged 16 or older. If you believe someone under 16 is using deesput, or a child is at risk, report it to us at legal@deesput.com. If a child is in immediate danger, call 112.
8Self-harm and suicide#
We want people to be able to talk about mental health and difficult experiences. We do not allow content that promotes, encourages or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm or eating disorders, or that mocks people who are struggling.
If you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to someone you trust or to a local support service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112. If you see content that worries you about someone’s safety, report it to us.
9Illegal activity and regulated goods#
You may not use deesput to break the law, or to help or encourage others to break it. In particular, we do not allow content that offers, sells, buys, promotes or explains how to obtain:
- illegal drugs, or prescription medicines without a prescription;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives, or parts to make them;
- stolen goods, counterfeit products, fake documents or forged money;
- hacking services, stolen accounts, personal data or payment details;
- human trafficking, forced labor or exploitation of any kind;
- gambling that is illegal where you or the audience are located.
10Spam, scams and fake engagement#
deesput should be a place of real people and real interest. We do not allow:
- spam, including repeated, unwanted or unrelated posts, comments, messages, friend requests or mentions;
- scams, phishing, fake giveaways, pyramid schemes, and misleading offers or links;
- links to phishing, malware or other harmful websites, and web addresses disguised to get around the places where links are not allowed, for example by spelling out or replacing the dot;
- using a name or a username to promote a website;
- fake engagement, such as buying, selling or trading likes, views, followers, comments or shares;
- manipulating XP, levels, badges, view counts or ad figures, including with scripts, bots or coordinated accounts;
- using automated tools to access or use deesput, except through the app itself;
- trying to get around rate limits, upload limits or any other protection;
- buying, selling or transferring accounts, usernames, topics or business identities outside the app;
- attaching topics to content that has nothing to do with them, to reach more people.
In these Guidelines, these words mean:
- Title means the short name you give your content when you create it. It is the Title field of a post or a MicroVideo, the Event Title field of an event, and the Campaign Name field of an ad.
- Description means the longer text you write under the title of a post or a MicroVideo, to say what it is about.
- Caption means the text of an ad, written in its Caption field. For an ad, the caption does the job that the description does for a post or a MicroVideo.
- Comments and chat messages are neither titles nor descriptions.
You can share links in chats, in comments, in the descriptions of posts and MicroVideos, in the captions of ads and as the website of a business identity. Links and web addresses are not allowed in titles or in topic names, and links in events cannot be opened. Before a link opens, deesput shows you the address of the website it leads to. If you do not trust it, do not open it, and report it.
11Impersonation and misleading identity#
Be who you say you are. We do not allow:
- pretending to be another person, business, brand or organization, including through a username, display name, picture, business identity or topic;
- pretending to be deesput or its staff. The name deesput is reserved and cannot be used in names or usernames;
- creating accounts to mislead people about who is behind them, or to get around a suspension, a ban or a block;
- misleading people about the source, meaning or context of content in a way that could cause harm.
Parody and fan accounts are allowed only if it is clear from the name and profile that they are not the real person or organization.
12Harmful false information#
We do not allow false or misleading content that is likely to cause real harm, such as:
- false health or medical claims that could endanger people, such as telling people to avoid necessary treatment;
- false information about how, when or where to vote, meant to stop people from voting;
- false claims about emergencies, disasters or public safety that could cause panic or put people at risk;
- manipulated images, videos or audio presented as real in order to deceive people.
13Content made with AI#
When you create a post, a MicroVideo or an ad, you can mark it as Made with AI. Content marked this way shows a small robot icon in its description or, for an ad, in its caption, so that everyone knows artificial intelligence was involved.
You are solely responsible for marking your content correctly. You must mark it as Made with AI whenever any part of it (an image, a video, audio or text) was generated by AI, or was edited with AI in a way that changes what it shows or says.
- Always mark realistic images, videos or audio that show real people, places or events in a way that did not really happen.
- Simple edits that do not change what the content shows or says, such as cropping, adjusting brightness or correcting spelling, do not need the mark.
- The mark does not make other content allowed. Realistic AI content that puts words or actions in a real person’s mouth to mislead, harass or harm them, and sexual AI content of real people, are not allowed, with or without the mark.
If content that should be marked is not, we may add the mark ourselves, remove the content, or take other action under these Guidelines. Repeatedly failing to mark AI content is a violation.
14Other people’s privacy#
Respect other people’s privacy, online and offline. We do not allow:
- sharing someone’s private information without their permission, such as their home address, phone number, private email, identity documents, financial details or location;
- encouraging others to find or track someone (doxxing);
- posting private conversations, including screenshots of chats, to expose or harass someone;
- recording or photographing people in private situations without their consent;
- sharing intimate or sexual images of anyone without their consent.
15Intellectual property#
Only post content that you created yourself or have the right to share. Do not post other people’s photos, videos, music, artwork, writing or trademarks without their permission, unless the law allows it.
If you believe content on deesput infringes your copyright or trademark, send a notice to legal@deesput.com that identifies the work, where the infringing content is, and your contact details, together with a statement that the notice is accurate and made in good faith. Accounts that repeatedly infringe the rights of others will be terminated.
16Topics#
Topics are how people find each other on deesput, so they must stay useful for everyone.
16.1Using topics
- Attach topics that genuinely match your content.
- Do not flood a topic with repetitive or unrelated content.
16.2Owning a topic
Owning a topic gives you the right to use its name and skin while your topic slot is active, and some tools to moderate it. It does not make you the owner of the word itself.
- Topic names must follow these Guidelines. They may not contain slurs, hateful, sexual or violent language, or someone else’s name, brand or trademark that you are not authorized to use. They may not contain links or web addresses either, including disguised ones.
- Topic owners can remove their topic from other people’s posts. Use this tool fairly, to keep your topic relevant, and not to harass, silence or target particular people.
- We may rename, remove or reassign a topic that breaks these Guidelines, infringes someone else’s rights or misleads people, and we may do so without a refund from us.
17Business identities#
Business identities are for real businesses, brands, organizations, creators and projects. If you run one:
- give accurate information about who you are, and keep it up to date;
- do not use a business identity to impersonate someone else or to hide who is behind it;
- follow the law that applies to your business, including consumer protection and advertising law;
- do not post fake reviews, fake endorsements or misleading claims about products or services;
- respect the people who follow you, and do not spam them.
You are responsible for everything published by your business identities, including by anyone you let use your account.
18Ads and boosts#
Ads and boosted posts reach people who did not choose to follow you, so they must meet a higher standard. All ads and boosts must follow these Guidelines, and in addition:
- they must be truthful, and must not make misleading claims about prices, results, availability or who is offering them;
- the destination of an ad must match what the ad promises;
- they must not use shocking, sexual or fear-based content to get attention;
- they must comply with all advertising and consumer protection laws in the countries where they are shown.
The following cannot be advertised or boosted on deesput:
- political content, including ads about elections, referendums, candidates, political parties, legislation or social issues;
- weapons, ammunition and explosives;
- drugs, tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping products, and alcohol;
- gambling, lotteries and betting;
- adult products and services, and dating services;
- financial products that promise unrealistic returns, and unlicensed investment, loan or crypto schemes;
- anything that is illegal in the countries where the ad is shown.
Every ad is marked as sponsored and every boosted post carries a boost mark, so that people always know when content is promoted. Do not try to hide or disguise this. We may reject, pause or remove any ad or boost that breaks these rules, and we may do so without a refund from us.
19Chats and private messages#
These Guidelines apply in private chats just as they do in public. Do not send spam, unwanted sexual content, threats or harassment, and do not keep messaging someone who does not want to hear from you.
Chats are private between the people in them, but they are not a safe place to break the rules. If someone reports a conversation to us, we may review the messages and files involved in that report to decide what to do, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
20Events#
Events must be real, legal and safe. Do not create events to scam people, to lure people somewhere under false pretenses, to organize violence or illegal activity, or to spam people with invitations. Give accurate details about when and where an event takes place, and cancel it if it is no longer happening.
21Reporting and blocking#
21.1Reporting
If you see something that breaks these Guidelines, report it. You can report posts, MicroVideos, profiles and business identities from the … menu, and a suspicious link from the window that appears when you tap it. We do not tell the person you reported who reported them.
Anyone, including people without an account, can notify us of content they believe is illegal by writing to legal@deesput.com. Please include where the content is (for example a link or a username), why you believe it is illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that your notice is accurate and made in good faith.
Reporting is limited to a certain number of reports per day and per week, to prevent abuse. Making false or malicious reports on purpose is itself a violation of these Guidelines.
21.2Blocking
You can block any person or business identity from the … menu or from their profile. They are not told that you blocked them. Once blocked, they can no longer message you, invite you, or interact with you, and you will no longer see their content in your feeds.
21.3In an emergency
We are not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 or your local emergency number first.
22How we enforce these guidelines#
We review reports and may also find violations ourselves. When we decide that something breaks these Guidelines or our Terms, we take the action we consider proportionate, based on how serious the violation is, whether it was repeated, and the risk of harm. We may:
- remove or hide content, or remove a topic from a post;
- add the Made with AI mark to content that should carry it;
- reject, pause or end an ad or a boost;
- rename, remove or reclaim a topic, a username or a business identity;
- limit features, such as posting, messaging, sending friend requests or advertising, for a period of time;
- suspend an account or a business identity temporarily;
- terminate an account permanently, together with its business identities, and refuse any new account created by the same person;
- preserve information and report content or behavior to law enforcement or other competent authorities.
Serious violations lead to immediate and permanent termination, without a prior warning. These include child sexual exploitation, credible threats of violence, terrorism or violent extremism, human trafficking, sharing intimate images without consent, and fraud. Repeated violations of any kind can also lead to termination.
When we remove content or restrict or terminate an account, we will tell you which rule was broken and what we decided, unless the law prevents us or doing so would put someone at risk. If you believe we made a mistake, you can ask us to review the decision by writing to legal@deesput.com within six months. A person, not an automated system, will look at your request.
Losing access to content, topics, business identities, ads, boosts or other paid features because of a violation does not entitle you to a refund from us. Purchases are made through Apple, and any refund is Apple’s decision under its own terms. If you have an active subscription, you remain responsible for canceling it in your Apple account.
Creating a new account, business identity or topic to get around a suspension, a termination or a block will lead to that account being terminated as well.
23Changes to these guidelines#
We may update these Guidelines as deesput and the law change, and as we learn what the community needs. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
